Review del album "Progress" según Tony Aguilar

Fuente original: Tony Aguilar

"Hola familia,

Mark se luce en What do you want from me.

Affirmation es muy uptempo, muy rápida.

Y el broche final llega con un tema de 8 minutos, una balada con sintetizadores titulada Eight Letters.

En un momentito lo comentaré con ellos. Me gusta el progreso de Take That.

Peace and Love from London."

Progess review on Daily Star

YOU can get your mitts on the new Take That release on November 15. Check out my thoughts, below, on the brilliant album.

The Flood: First single and utterly epic. A certain No 1. Verdict: 5/5

SOS: Mark leads the vocals with a heady disco opening beat then Robbie comes in with a shouty, pumping vocal. Banging rave-up that sounds nothing like TT have ever done before. “It’s like a bullet to the head,” declares Markie. Bang bang brilliance. Verdict: 5/5

Wait: Dubby 80s-style mid-tempo which Robbie drives. “There’s something I’d like to change,” they declare, clearly referencing their past squabbles. Verdict: 2/5

Kidz: Mark talks to a marching drumbeat about kings, queens and government. Dark Depeche Mode-feeling. Hauntingly good. Verdict: 4/5

Pretty Things: Synth slowie with Robbie on lead. “A little meditation might pull you through/Don’t sweat the pretty things,” he gently croons. Verdict: 3/5

Happy Now: Camp fun number. Gary and Rob share the vocodered moments. Verdict: 3/5

Underground Machine: “What a beast, what a man/I wish the beggers were choosers,” sings Robbie. No idea what he means but this will get your hips gyrating. Verdict: 3/5

What Do You Want From Me?: “My greatest fear is you will notice I’m not what you wanted after all these years/It’s been a difficult year/I still wanna belong to you,” a heart-broken Mark sings. Gut-wrenching brave lyrics with a boisterous beat. Verdict: 5/5

Affirmation: “Can feel the pressure on all our minds,” sings Howard, managing to sound totally modern yet steeped in 80s nostalgia at the same time. Verdict: 3/5

Eight Letters: “Look back but don’t stare,” sings Gaz. That’s the title of their upcoming film about reforming with Robbie. “This is all that matters.” A bromance tune. Verdict: 4/5

Keep spinning for a secret track with a space-age Jason lead vocal. Delicate and floaty. Verdict: 3/5

Progress review on Mirror.co.uk

It's Gary, Howard, Robbie, Mark and Jason all right... but as you've never heard them before.

Futuristic, electro-heavy, bassthumping Take That have ripped up 20 years of history and shown, once again, that they still have a massive future.

I was given an exclusive first listen to the reformed group's 10-track album, Progress, and I can confirm that it's an absolute belter. Determined not to be a bit-part member (as if), Rob's got his dulcet Stoke-on-Trent vocals on over half the tracks.

But despite that, it's still a corker. So good, in fact, that the band have pushed first single The Flood forward a week - sending Westlife running and even pushing Simon Cowell's X Factor charity single back a fortnight.

Here's the lowdown on all 10 tracks...

THE FLOOD

An anthemic, rousing tune, and the first single off the new album. Huge.

SOS

Robbie and Mark combine on this electro-rocky number. Thumping chorus line and very polished.

WAIT

Rob's synthesized vocals give this an 80s feel. Personal lyrics about regret, and dealing with criticism.

KIDZ

You'll either love it or hate it. Another marching bassline, with Mark recording main vocals on the slightly Pink Floyd-esque track.

PRETTY THINGS

Slower in tempo, Robbie sounds great. A real grower.

HAPPY NOW

My favourite track on the album, an absolute Tune with a capital 'T'.

Scissor Sister-lite, Gary and Rob dominate on this massively upbeat and vocoder-heavy number.

Please let this be the next single, boys.

UNDERGROUND MACHINE

Classic Robbie, complete with catchy chorus: "When the girl meets the boy and the boy meets the girl and the boy thinks the girl's all right. All right."

WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?

Another absolute classic. While Mark is keen to stress this deeply personal song was written before his extramarital affairs came to light, there's no denying the poignancy of the lyrics: "It's been a difficult year/(but) I still want to belong to you/I still want to grow old with you/I still think I'm in love with you/I still think you're the one for me but what do you want from me?"

AFFIRMATION

Howard gets to have a go on the mic. Love his voice but the track feels like a bit of a filler.

EIGHT LETTERS

Features the lyric "Look back, don't stare" - the name of TT's forthcoming film. Fantastic song, hints at the lads repairing their relationship with Robbie. Rousing climax and set to be the closing track for next year's tour.

Sobre The Circus Live Ultimate Fan Edition

Como comenté en el post anterior sobre esta edición limitada, ayer escribí a Universal para preguntar sobre el formato de caja de los CDs y DVDs. Pues bien, aquí está la respuesta:

The discs are contained within individual cardboard sleeves, not thestandard retail CD casing. Hope this helps you.

Many thanks,

Universal Music.

Es decir, los CDs y DVDs vienen en sobres individuales como los de la foto. Qué decepción...

Forever... Greatest Hits

BMG International's Forever: Greatest Hits is the most comprehensive Take That collection released to date, featuring 34 tracks' worth of the band's biggest singles, definitive album tracks, B-sides, remixes and other goodies. Along with hits like "Back for Good," "How Deep Is Your Love," "Relight My Fire," "A Million Love Songs," "It Only Takes a Minute," and "Love Ain't Here Anymore," the collection also includes "The Party Remix," a megamix of some of their most popular songs; a "Rock 'N' Roll Medley"; a "Motown Medley" that includes the group's version of "Treat Her Like a Lady"; and "No Si Aquo No Hay Amor," a Spanish-language version of "Love Ain't Here Anymore," "Pray," "Everything Changes," "Take That and Party," and "Sunday to Saturday" are some of the other highlights of this two-disc set, which seems more aimed at die-hard Take That fans than newcomers to the band; but it would also make an excellent introduction to the group's music.
