Robbie Williams back to entertain us as he is lined up to take over Jacko tour dates

Robbie Williams is set to make a comeback to rival that of his old bandmates, with a series of huge London gigs.

The ex-Take That singer is hoping to fill slots at the O2 early next year, in slots left vacant by Michael Jackson's death last month.

It would be a dream comeback gig for the singer, who has been out of the charts for three years after his last album flopped.

Since then, the 35-year-old star has seen Take That return to the top of the charts, sell millions of albums and have the fastest-selling UK tour of all time.

Many fans were hoping he would rejoin the foursome on their recent Circus stadium tour, after the band said they wanted him to record with them again.

But, with a new album out later this year, he is expected to take some of the dates that Jacko would have performed, with Whitney Houston, 45, performing others.

The O2, formerly known as the Millennium Dome, is owned by AEG, the US entertainment giant, and is a 20,000 seat venue.

An AEG source told the Evening Standard: 'Robbie's eagerly-awaited album will be out soon and he is likely to be touring Europe next year.

'It will be perfect for him to start with shows at the O2.

Robbie is releasing a new album Reality Killed the Video Star in October - his first since 2006 flop Rudebox.

He has penned songs for the album with Guy Chambers, who co-wrote many of his biggest hits including Angels, and Mark Ronson.

On his official website, he confirmed he is working with producer Trevor Horn and said 'it sounds big. Very, very big'.
