I HAVE found out why ROBBIE WILLIAMS has been stuffing his face with muffins and hanging about with oddball DAVID ICKE.
The star has split up again with old songwriting partner GUY CHAMBERS – who he discovered is now working with GARY BARLOW.
That’s the showbiz equivalent of your two best friends starting a new gang and leaving you out.The beardy pop nob’s former TAKE THAT enemy is putting new material together with the man to whom Robbie owes a large chunk of his success. And, to make matters worse, Gaz and Guy were working together on Robbie’s doorstep in LA.
Oh, and Rob’s old pal MARK OWEN got in on the act, too.A source said: “Robbie and Guy patched up their differences last year. They had been back in the studio trying to find the spark that produced Rob’s best material.“They gave it a go but it didn’t work out – they had both moved on. But while they were working together in LA, Guy was asked to work as part of a team with Gary on a new TV show. “He never mentioned it to Robbie. Rob heard Gary was in LA working and found out it was with Guy. He wasn’t best pleased when he heard.”Guy, Gaz and Mark are part of a team of 12 songwriters working on new ITV project Britannia High. The eight-part reality show aims to recreate cult Eighties series Fame.It will follow students through the audition process, performance classes and all the way to the release of a single.
Strictly Come Dancing judge ARLENE PHILLIPS is involved in the big-budget show, too.It sounds exactly like the kind of thing Robbie should be doing. But, then again, he is on a self-imposed strike from his arduous life being signed to EMI. The label who made him “rich beyond his wildest dreams” had the nerve to ask him to graft a bit harder for his money.
Rob’s fall-out with Guy a few years back was bitter to say the least. He and Gaz were also at each other’s throats for years after Take That split. But they had a bit of a role reversal over the past year. Once-podgy Gaz is in the best shape of his life and has become a national institution – while Rob has piled on the pounds and become a figure of fun.Now he’s spending his days with David Icke discussing crackpot theories, drinking powerful coffee and skipping around his house with JONATHAN WILKES.
Gaz, Guy and Mark together are bound to produce material better than anything Rob has done since Feel in 2002.He’s a sensitive soul, our Rob, so hearing about Guy’s new project will be causing him a lot of anguish.Hopefully enough to make him pull the finger out.
