Give and Take That for Haiti

WE JOIN LADS AS THEY SING FOR SI'S SINGLE

We've been to some important events in our time, but witnessing Take That make history has to be up there with the best of them.

Standing next to the boys, with our headphones in our hands, we watched them lay down their vocals for Simon Cowell's Haiti fundraising single.

And cosying up to us at the Henson Studios in LA, where they were recording their chunk of REM's Everybody Hurts, they said they were "privileged" to be taking part. Gary Barlow told us: "As soon as we heard, we were just hoping we'd be asked. It's one of those things you don't even have to think about.

"We've never done anything like this before, but music has been a great way of generating money for good causes."

We were mesmerised by the boys as they lent their vocals to the A-l i s t roster which includes Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis, Chery l C o l e , James Blunt, Mika, Susan Boyle, Bon Jovi, Miley Cyrus, Alexandra Burke, JLS, James Morrison, Rod Stewart, Westlife and Michael Buble.

But it wasn't the lure of the megastars that made Take That sign up.

Jason Orange said: "It's not about, 'I rubbed shoulders with them', except most of them are better singers than us! It's just great people are coming together for something so important."

He went on to urge 3am readers to support the single and help raise funds for the relief effort.

"Be a part of history and help out with t h i s terrible tragedy," he said. "Buy the record, buy several copies." Sadly, scheduling conflicts prevented the lads from recording at the same time as their former bandmate Robbie Williams.

Robbie recorded his lines last night at the same studios with producer John Shanks, 24 hours after his old pals.

The foursome admit they were all choked by images of the earthquake's aftermath, which left over 150,000 people dead and millions more injured.

Mark said: "I've seen pictures on TV, and they're already trying to find their way through it. They're singing, and there seems to be so much hope. They've started the hope, we're just following on from it."

Nominaciones a los Brits

Y Take That están nominados a... trrrrr.... ¡Best Live Act! ... ... ¡Ay, no!

Robbie Williams joined by Take That at the Brits?

Nominations for the BRIT Awards are announced today (18.01.10), while it has been confirmed Robbie Williams, Lady Gaga and Kasabian will perform at this year's 30th anniversary event.

Robbie Williams, Lady Gaga and Kasabian will perform at this year's BRIT Awards.

'Angels' singer Robbie - who has previously spoken of how his severe stage fright has halted his live performances - will perform a short set to commemorate receiving a lifetime achievement award, with rumours rife that he will reunite with his former Take That bandmates for the second time since launching a solo career in 1996.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Take That could reunite with Robbie to perform his second track. It's the band's 20th anniversary year and they and they are in talks about doing something spectacular."

Robbie previously joined Take That and a host of other stars onstage for a rendition of Beatles song 'Hey Jude' at a concert in aid of charity Children in Need in November last year.

Meanwhile, rap superstar Jay-Z is rumoured to be making an appearance at the show, and will possibly perform with 'Viva La Vida' hitmakers Coldplay, fronted by Chris Martin.

A source said: "As well as bringing Alicia Keys on stage to do a rendition of their hit 'Empire State of Mind', he's thinking of getting Coldplay involved too. Chris Martin and Jay have been pals for years."

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga will not be able to realise her plan of performing alongside reality TV sensation Susan Boyle at the awards show - as the latter has reportedly been snubbed from nominations because she is "not cool" enough.

Susan- who rose to fame after appearing on 'Britain's Got Talent', one of media mogul Simon Cowell's TV shows - is said to have missed out on a nod in any category, despite being the biggest selling female artist of 2009 in the UK.

A source said: "She's not even shortlisted for Best Female, even though that's usually the weakest category.

"And it's not just an attack on Susan. It also shows how Simon Cowell is regarded by many in the record business."

However, one collaboration which will definitely take place at the awards will be between Dizzee Rascal and Florence and the Machine in a specially conceived track called 'You Got The Dirtee Love', a mash up of their tracks 'You Got The Love' and 'Dirtee Cash'.

'Beat Again' hitmakers JLS have also been confirmed to sing at the ceremony, which takes place at London's Earls Court on 16 February.

The nominations for the BRIT Awards will be announced tonight (18.01.10).

La fiesta de aniversario de Gary

Gary Barlow celebrated his tenth wedding anniversary with a glamorous game of bingo.

The Take That star and wife Dawn celebrated the milestone with the likes of Cheryl and Ashley Cole, Lulu, Ronan Keating and Alesha Dixon at London's Mandarin Oriental hotel.

Mark Owen and Howard Donald gave a rousing speech to their Take That bandmate, who then put on a game of bingo, reports The Sun.

The idea went down like a house on fire, according to a source who said: "Where Gary finds the time to organise everything is unbelievable - he spent a lot of money to make sure Dawn had a party to remember, treating her to a couple of nights in the hotel's most luxurious suite."

They added: "All their closest pals were there to enjoy it. Gaz hosted the bingo, calling the numbers out. They all got into the spirit of things."

Proceeds from the fun-filled do will go to Barnardo's.

Howard Donald Upsets Neighbours

TAKE THAT star HOWARD DONALD has infuriated his London neighbours with plans to dig a basement extension for his luxury home. The British singer owns a $5.4 million (£3.4 million) townhouse in the city's exclusive Kensington district and was recently granted permission to create an underground room, a rear extension and a roof terrace. But the plans have upset other residents, who have now reportedly lodged formal objections with the local authority. One neighbour, Elizabeth Foxon, tells London's Evening Standard newspaper, "A similar large basement development is already taking place, causing a great deal of noise, heavy vehicle traffic and general disruption to the area.”

¿No Brit for Take That?

THIS year The Brit Awards celebrate their 30th anniversary.

But TAKE THAT fans won't join the celebrations after Brits bosses dropped the Best Live Act category - a gong the manband were nailed-on winners for.

For one year only, it will be replaced by the Most Memorable Brits Performance - to mark the event's landmark birthday.

But it's beyond me why they can't have both categories, especially for a year of incredible live shows on home soil.

Take That's spectacular Circus tour won my Bizarre award for Best Live Act.

But it's not just GARY BARLOW, MARK OWEN, JASON ORANGE and HOWARD DONALD who entertained the undercrackers off me at gigs this year.

U2, COLDPLAY, JAY-Z, OASIS and KASABIAN were sensational.

Gary has told me in the past that he feels let down by a lack of recognition from the Brits Academy.
