Gary Barlow - Latest News

Hi everyone

Can’t believe we’re in the last 3rd of the year. Even though our Tour was only 5 weeks long we’ve been living the show from January. It was a long road to that opening night but all worth it once we hit the stage. Every night was different too. I have to say it was the most enjoyable tour I’ve ever been a part of.

Thanks to all our amazing audiences and thanks to the great team of people that made our dream come true.

Hope it’s not too long till we tour again !

Little Baby Daisy
A lot has happened this year. The arrival of little Daisy has changed not only the size of our family but also provided us with a lot more work at home. For anyone who has 3 kids it’s not easy trying to give them all equal attention and at the same time trying to find sometime for you and your partner. All worth while but a challenge for sure.

Kilimanjaro Challenge
I may have said this thank you a thousand times but one more won’t hurt; To all who donated money to help our climb of Kilimanjaro, thank you so, so much. We’ve raised nearly 4 million pounds to date making our charity climb the highest earning challenge in HISTORY!!! Whooo

Coming later in the year...
I am in the process of putting together a concert for Children in Need. I hope to feature a host of great artists on one stage for a one night only performance that will be broadcast on BBC1 the week before CIN night. We’re hoping not only to raise money for the charity but also raise awareness for a truly great British Institution.

Christmas is coming!
As a band we’re putting together a great live DVD of the tour that will be out before Christmas. It will not only feature one of our four nights at Wembley Stadium but also an exclusive live acoustic session at the legendary Abbey road Studios.

Singstar have done a fantastic job on the Take that song book. Feel free to sing your heart out !!

Also we’ve put together a cracking book that shows in picture our history. Yes lot’s of embarrassing shots and stupid haircuts to sift through. It’s a nice book of memories for us guys too as it’s the culmination of 18 years of our lives and careers. Fantastic !

Look out for Camilla Kerslake
As usual any spare time I have I’m involved in trying to help and launch new artists. My big hope for this year is Camilla Kerslake. She’s only 20 years old (I’m nearly twice her age!).

She’s a classical singer with the voice of an angel.Look out for her on tv’s various and listen out for the voice behind the Waitrose advert !! Good luck Camilla !!

..And Finally
Hope you’re all well and thanks for visiting my site. I know updates are infrequent but they always arrive eventually !!!!

Robbie Williams BBC Electric Proms: Review

I told you I'll do it!" .

Take That! Now Robbie Williams is back for good

(...) "After a brief foray into swing, Williams hit us with the big announcement of the night — dedicating No Regrets to “my new best mate, Gary Barlow”. As well as mending broken friendships with ex-bandmates, Robbie’s found himself a woman. And it was to his new muse, American actress Ayda Field, that he dedicated the horn-heavy soul of Won’t Do That. Following this with the upcoming single, You Know Me — surely a future No 1 with its swinging, singalong chorus and heartfelt lyrics — the Robbie of old was coming into view."(...)

Robbie Williams salutes Take That at BBC Electric Proms gig

Singer unveils new material at first live show in three years

October 21, 2009

Robbie Williams paid tribute to his former Take That bandmates at his BBC Electric Proms show at London's Roundhouse venue last night (October 20).

Introducing 'No Regrets' as "a song about the band I used to be in", Williams described his reconciliation with the group during the gig – his first in three years.
"I've got a new best mate and his name's Gary Barlow," he said.
He also changed the final lyric of the song to "I guess the love we have is officially alive", as opposed to "dead".

The set-list was dominated by tracks from Williams' forthcoming new album 'Reality Killed The Video Star'. Descending a lit-up staircase through an orchestral backing band of 38 musicians – including string and brass sections, a harpist, an opera singer, two drummers and two percussionists, all directed by album producer Trevor Horn – Williams opened with recent single 'Bodies'. For footage from the gig click on the link below.

Clearly emotional, he told the crowd, "You nearly made me cry then, but then I realised it's not The X Factor, is it?" He later asked, "You been watching The X Factor? Go the twins!" The shout-out was met by playful boos from the crowd.

Another new track, 'Morning Sun', a string-swept ballad with a Beatles-y feel, followed. At one point Williams noted, "No-one's singing along down the front, and that means the record hasn't leaked. Ha!" Other new tracks unveiled included 'Blasphemy', the last song Williams wrote with former songwriting partner Guy Chambers, upbeat George Michael-esque dance track 'Starstruck', a love song written for his girlfriend called 'Won't Do That', and soul-tinged next single 'You Know Me'. Notably absent from the set-list were old hits 'Let Me Entertain You' and 'Rock DJ', although 'Angels' and an impassioned 'Feel' drew strong reactions from the crowd.

Williams closed with a cover of 'Video Killed The Radio Star', the 1979 one-hit wonder by Horn's former band Buggles, that his new album title references.

Video killed the radio star

Robbie Williams Live at BBC Proms

Rob's back!

Nadine Coyle (Girls Aloud) versionará Back for Good

Girls Aloud's Nadine pulls out secret Take That solo ammunition

Just as Cheryl Cole slips out of her military get-up following her solo debut on the X-Factor, the judge is already facing fierce competition from her Girls Aloud sidekick Nadine Coyle.
Signs that the girl band are history look more ominous after Coyle revealed on the internet that she will use Take That's Back For Good classic to help her become a solo success in the charts.

The track fuels speculation the competition between the pair is set to get serious, with Nadine skipping Cheryl's X-Factor performance, unlike the other bandmates.

Adding extra ammunition, in what looks like a clear sign she is targeting the US, the Irish beauty has teamed up with American superstars Boyz II Men to record the rival boy band classic.

Gary hit by death of father

TAKE THAT star GARY BARLOW last night pulled out of a Children In Need event after his dad died.
Gary, 38, had been due in London today to announce details of a BBC charity concert.

But he raced home to Cheshire to be with his family after dad Colin, 62, died of a suspected heart attack.

A pal said: "Gary is not yet sure what happened. He just wants to get home to his family and be with them."

Gary, who has three kids with wife Dawn, had been due to launch a new Children In Need concert.

The Albert Hall show is set to feature Take That and LILY ALLEN.

Robbie Williams canta "Bodies" en X Factor

Williams 'loved X Factor performance'

Robbie Williams has said that he enjoyed his first live performance in three years when he sung his new single 'Bodies' on Sunday's X Factor show.

The ex-Take That star wrote on his blog that his early confidence was threatened when the sliding door to the stage refused to work and he had to wedge it open himself.

Williams said of the show: "What A Hoot! loved it. I wasn't as nervous as I thought I was going to be. Until The friggin' sliding door wouldn't open.

"Now I don't know if you've ever had ten million (plus) people ready to judge you on your first performance back in three years, but let me tell you, if the door between you and them isn't opening that's enough to throw you right off your stride."

He added: "So there's a bad start. I had a whole pose planned and what not. But that went out of the window. Anyway I was so thrown that I started saying to myself, 'OH GOD, what did God give me? s**t, Did he give me sunshine or a lay line? OH lord oh lord'.

"Then the mouth opened and by the grace of the big man himself the right words fell out. Oh praise be! I'm in! So after a bizarrely odd start to the 3.30 minutes I started to find my feet.

"The audience were Immense and the Love in the room was palpable. It all felt so electric. Like three years of anxiety leaving my body. So happy right now, so pleased. I think the boy's back"

Robbie 'will join Take That in two years'

Robbie Williams has announced that a full Take That reunion will only happen in two years' time.

The 'Bodies' singer, who quit the group in 1995 to launch a solo career, confirmed that he would eventually like to rejoin his old bandmates.

"It will happen. But not in the next 18 months, two years," he told GQ. "There's contracts to fulfil. And then I can do what I want."

The 35-year-old claimed that a meeting with the band in Los Angeles last year was a significant moment in repairing their relationship.

"We all had a massive chat, one of those chats that other bands who split up can't seem to have," he said.

"It was really healing, if that doesn't sound too nancy. And at the end of it everything had gone and we were in the kitchen and I'd got my arm round Gary. I just loved him. I think he felt the same way. It was really beautiful."

Williams releases new single 'Bodies' on October 12. His album Reality Killed The Video Star follows on November 9.

Robbie: I might not have got through X Factor. I’m lucky if I sing in key

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has sold 55 million albums worldwide and has more Brit Awards to his name than any other artist in history.
But the star believes he would struggle to get through to the final stages of The X Factor - because his singing voice isn't up to scratch.

Robbie, 35, is convinced he would be no match for the contestants competing for a record deal this year.

And that's a big statement considering he has six No1 singles and eight No1 albums to his name.

In the third instalment of Robbie's exclusive interview with The Sun, he said: "I would definitely have entered The X Factor if I was a kid now. Of course I would have.

"I'd be excited and overwhelmed by the opportunity of getting through one of the rounds.

"It would be the only format to do that for someone like me.

"My voice isn't as good as some of these people competing. I might not have got through because I am lucky if I can get through a song and I've sung it in key. These people can really f****** sing."

Robbie is appearing on the hit ITV show tomorrow as a mentor.

But the singer, who will test his nerves by performing on the show tonight, was apprehensive about what he could offer the hopefuls.

He said: "I've got to go and do mentoring and I haven't got a clue what I am going to say.

"I wouldn't know what to tell myself. If there are little nuances that need to be changed in the music and the way they are singing, I am not going to spot them.

"I could be the most boring mentor since Mariah Carey. God bless her, she's ace. But all she said was, 'That's great. God bless you'."

With some gentle coaxing Robbie soon opened up with his views on the show so far.

And he has definitely been doing his homework.

"Well, I don't know what happened to Danyl. I saw his first audition and I just thought, 'There's the fella that has come and will take the crown away.'

"I will have a chat with him and I'll tell him to chill out. Let them walk around you, don't go to them.

"I thought he was phenomenal in the first audition he did.

"I thought Rachel is already fully-formed and a really interesting character. I can tell she will have some good, interesting things to sing about and interesting ways to say them.

"John and Edward are the Marmite of this show. I can see something interesting in them. They kind of scare me. There's something there. Maybe it's a show on Nickelodeon?

"And I think Olly, the Essex guy, is really good."

One person who has really impressed Robbie is X Factor judge and music boss Simon Cowell.

"I love Simon. I am a big fan of his. I think he is incredible. He's the most charismatic man on the planet right now. He's a very, very interesting man indeed."

And Cheryl Cole has also caught his eye: "Cheryl Cole. She's fit isn't she? Incredibly pretty."

Robbie is about to release his brilliant new album Reality Killed The Video Star, his eighth studio release. The album will go head-to-head with JLS, last year's runners-up on The X Factor and 2009's answer to Robbie's former band Take That.

But the singer isn't worried about the chart battle.

He is more concerned about a return to the stage - where he will be forced to confront a crippling stage-fright problem.

He said: "I'll find out if I can still do it this weekend. Then I have a gig at the BBC Electric Proms.

"I have been worried about that. I have got to go and be somebody I am not, which is what I do when I get on stage.

"I haven't done it for three years. All I have got to do is stand up and sing some songs. That's how I have got to view it." One thing Robbie won't be doing this weekend is handing out his mobile number to hopefuls.

And it's for a very simple reason - he no longer has his own mobile phone, relying on girlfriend Ayda Field to filter all his messages.

He admitted: "I don't have a mobile. People get hold of my number and basically if anyone asked for it I'd hand it out.

"I'd be waking up every day and out of ten texts that I got, eight would be asking me for things.

"I am not very good on the phone anyway. I never have been. I get a bit clumped up on it. So I decided I'd be best without one of these so I got rid of it. I am an e-mail man."

A lot has been written recently about Robbie rejoining Take That.

A mention of a reunion, and new material, earns a gigantic grin, plus a nod and a wink from the singer.

He even played their album The Circus to me and sang along to Gary Barlow's vocals.

"The Take That tour was fantastic. The show was amazing," he said. "It was f****** phenomenal. I did fancy being part of it. Yes I did.

"When they all got together on stage and played instruments, it was awesome. That's a band I want to be in. Their last album was really good.

"I did wish I had written some of it. The Circus album, whatever way you look at it, is a f****** good album. They all write on it. They all chip in.

"My favourite track is How Did It Come To This. When I heard it I was thinking, 'I wish that was on my album.' The Garden is class. I love it all. Hold Up The Light is great too. They are such good lads."

Earlier this year Robbie and Gary made peace during a trip to see Arsenal v Manchester United at the Gunners' Emirates Stadium.

And even though Robbie is about to move back to LA permanently, the Port Vale fan, who was born in Stoke-on-Trent, still lives for the beautiful game.

"I think United are a bit s*** this year. Scholes' legs have gone. It's a shame," he said. "He doesn't say much, Rooney, does he?

"He is the most shy person. He has been to see a couple of gigs and I love him to bits."

The star, who raises millions of pounds with a celebrity football match for Unicef every year, added: "Stoke are doing well. I'd love to go to the Britannia Stadium but I think I'd probably have my arms and legs ripped off if I did."

When Robbie isn't in his studio, watching DVDs with "the missus" or engrossed in online pool, he harbours a huge fascination with UFOs.

He scours YouTube for footage of conventions and attends meetings in LA to hear testimony from people who have had "sightings".

During our conversation I ask about his friendship with David Icke, the former TV broadcaster branded a crackpot for his eccentric theories about the future of the human race.

He said: "I am into all that stuff David Icke talks about. He never mentions the reptilian stuff. I speak to him every now and again. I'm incredibly interested in it, to be honest with you.

"I am really, really open-minded. So much so, my brain may have fallen out! I am not going to discount anything he says. Which might be, publicly and perception-wise, to the detriment of myself.

"If you look at it and you don't know much about it, it might come across as lunacy. And it might be. It might be just that."

But there's no lunacy in Robbie's new album Reality Killed The Video star, out on November 9. It has No1 written all over it. His single Bodies, is available for download tomorrow and in shops on Monday.

N-Dubz record song with Take That's Gary Barlow

N-Dubz have recorded a new song with Take That's Gary Barlow, bandmember Fazer has revealed.

The rapper/producer told BBC Newsbeat that the Take That man entered the studio with them recently for a project he jokingly decribed as "Take Braaaap".

Fazer explained: ""We've done a big tune with Gary Barlow. We're not narrow-minded, we can make big tunes, and we can make massive hooks, big concepts, that's why we've got Gary Barlow in.

"It ain't Take That, it's Take Braaaap. Legend. He came in the studio and it was great – he had time for the underdogs and he came and wrote a smashing hook."

Although Fazer didn't say when the song would be released, he went on to reveal that the band were set for another pop collaboration soon – with Kylie Minogue. "Something will actually come out of this," he said. "The negotiations are almost done and there should be a track with Kylie and N-Dubz and it'll be a smash."

N-Dubz won two MOBO Awards earlier this week in Glasgow.

Take that, Mozart: Gary Barlow tunes up for classical career

It is a musical leap that may shock Take That’s millions of fans. Gary Barlow is the latest pop star to try bridging the cultural chasm between pop and classical.

With five Ivor Novello Awards for songwriting and 30 million record sales behind him, Barlow’s work has become one of Britain’s most successful musical exports. Now he is seeking entry into the world of symphonies and arias as composer and talentspotter.

Speaking to The Times from a New York studio, Barlow said: “I’ve set up my own record label, Future, and my first signing is a classical soprano.

“I had a small amount of classical training as a child and my mother was disappointed I didn’t go down that route. Now I’ve come round to her way of thinking.”

To begin with, Barlow will guide the career of Camilla Kerslake, 21, a four-octave coloratura soprano, who bombarded the star with demo tapes of her singing Ave Maria at his London recording studio. “I never thought a classical artist would be my first signing but I was entranced by this beautiful, pure voice,” he said.

Barlow, 38, who admits that his knowledge of classical terminology is nascent, added: “She didn’t have that wobbly, operatic sound.”

As for the kind of music he is better known for, he confirmed that there is to be a reunion between Take That and Robbie Williams. A chance meeting at the New York studio where Take That are putting the finishing touches to a live album went well.

Barlow said: “It was great to see Robbie. I’ve heard his new album and it’s absolutely fantastic. We definitely will work together in the future, we just don’t know when.”

A master of the three-minute radio hit, he is ready to broaden his composing style: “I’m using the classical skills I learnt more and more. I really like that world and I’d like to take it further in the future. The biggest issue is getting mainstream radio audiences to hear classical.”

Barlow could even become a classical Simon Cowell. “X Factor-type shows only discover a certain kind of performer,” he said. “I’m looking for people with a different set of values, in pop songwriting or classical.”

With illegal filesharing wiping £180million each year off the value of the recorded music industry, Barlow will leave the limelight to become a backseat impressario. “I love my stagework but I see my future as helping to discover the next generation of talent. As Take That we only get to record 12 songs every two years. I want to be involved in music all the time.”

Will Kerslake be a success? Terry Wogan is a fan of her version of She Moved Through the Fair, which suggests that she is heading for the lucrative classical crossover market.

Kerslake said: “I knew it was uncool to listen to opera as a kid, but I didn’t care because I loved it.”

She said of her four-octave range: “I am more like a boy soprano, someone who can sing so lightly and so high that, in the upper ranges, I become almost like an instrument.”
