Remember: Take That on tour IV

"Take That & friends" at Royal Albert Hall

GARY BARLOW has great form when it comes to organising live shows

TAKE THAT’s ongoing Circus stadium tour is one of the greatest spectacles I’ve seen in an outdoor arena.

So I am delighted to report that the Rule The World chart-topper is plotting a one-off extravaganza at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

And he’s roping in some top-notch talent to make it go with a bang. CHRIS MARTIN and LEONA LEWIS have signed up for the show, which will be in October. Gaz and his band mates will do a turn too.

And best pal PETER KAY has agreed to compere the event.

All the profits will go to Children In Need, a cause close to Gaz’s heart.

Last year the dad of three trekked up Mount Kilimanjaro alongside ALESHA DIXON, CHERYL COLE and other celebs to raise cash for Comic Relief.

A source told me: “Gary has really been bitten by the fundraising bug. He was amazed by people’s generosity during his Kili climb.

"As soon as he got off the mountain he made the decision to lend his support to more charities.

“Children In Need bosses have discussed a number of ideas with him but Gary thought it would be a good idea if he could put his musical skills to their best use.

“He knows a lot of people and is widely respected so putting together a star bill has been plain-sailing.

“Take That are going to perform and there will be a whole host of surprises throughout the evening. It’s shaping up to be a very special night.”

The show will be filmed and released on DVD late this year.

It’s interesting timing. A certain former band mate of Gary’s will begin his comeback around then.

ROBBIE WILLIAMS’ new album is expected in early 2010, if he gets back from his fun and games in the Bahamas in time.

And a star turn at Gary’s gig would be just the thing to get his juices flowing.

Gary terrified of ballet pumps

Celebrities are delicate creatures, often prone to peculiar phobias - but the one with the weirdest fear of all is Take That's Gary Barlow.

While Madonna is freaked out by storms, Heidi Klum is plane terrified of flying, Orlando Bloom has a pig phobia and Rupert Grint is scared of spiders, Gary has a thing about... ballet pumps.

Yes, at 37 years of age Gary has developed an unhealthy aversion to the flat footwear - and banned people from wearing them backstage during the band's Circus tour.

He saw one performer wandering around in the pumps - Amy Winehouse's shoe of choice - and put his foot down.

Says our mole: "Gary can't stand the sight of ballet pumps. It may sound odd but he cannot bear them.

"He thinks they're incredibly unflattering. In his eyes, even the most attractive woman in the world would be pug ugly if she was wearing pumps.

"At one of their recent after-show parties, a dancer was kicking back in some pastel ballet pumps, and Gary had to leave the room.

"His wife Dawn owns a pair and Gary jokes that he'll divorce her if she buys any more. And he can't be seen with her when she does wear them.

"All 230-odd cast and crew have been told to stick to trainers or heels when not on stage.

"The other lads find it hilarious and keep taking the mick, but Gary is adamant: dump the pump."

And he isn't the only member of Take That who likes things just so backstage.

The manband - currently in Cardiff on the Welsh leg of their sell-out tour - have a masseuse to ease any aches and pains, and soothing ice baths on tap. They also insist on herbal supplements and throat lozenges to keep their voices in fine tune.

Still, all the pampering is clearly working. Their critically-acclaimed £10million UK stadium dates have even put Britney's ongoing tour of the same name, to shame.

Future's not Orange

TAKE THAT may be better second time around - but JASON ORANGE is still very much stuck in the Nineties.

So much so that GARY BARLOW even tried to step in and stop him from purchasing an old-fashioned piece of music equipment.

Gary said: "I caught Jason trying to buy a CD Walkman.

"I said, 'Jay, what are you doing? I'll get you an iPod.'"

But Jason was having none of it.

He explained: "I like the CD Walkmans. I'm a bit old fashioned like that.

"And I still even have lots of old cassette tapes."

It seems the future's not Orange after all.

"Siga al Caravelle azul"

Gary Barlow, lead singer of Take That, commented: ‘We love the Caravelle. It’s comfortable when we’re travelling and even with the four of us, it’s really spacious.’
‘The Caravelle is stylish, comfortable and safe,’ said Barlow at the time.
Any room for Rob?

Take That fancy a crack Hollywood

Take That are telling us that they now fancy a crack at Hollywood - in an Ocean's 11-style movie.

Well into their sell-out Circus tour, they even went to a recent crew party dressed as the stars of the film.

Jason said: "I was Brad Pitt, Howard was George Clooney and Mark was Matt Damon."

Bless Gary.

Though he's lost weight, he joked: "I was James Corden."

And, just to prove they don't mind if the joke's on them, Jason tells Time Out: "We've another film on the go - called Reservoir Dicks."

Armed robbery cops quiz Robbie

ROBBIE Williams is being quizzed by police probing an armed robbery carried out by three thugs.

The cops want to see if Robbie, 35, can help them discover if there is any link between the raid and photos taken of the star smoking a large roll-up cigarette in the Bahamas.

A public row erupted between Robbie’s group and two snappers, who were later robbed at gunpoint by bandits who took their cameras and cash.

Hours after the angry confrontation, British photographer Matt Sanchez and American Carlos Mendez were robbed at gunpoint in their beach cottage.

Three thugs smashed their way in at 3am, held a pistol to Mendez's head and threatened to kill the pair. They made off with £15,000-worth of cameras, clothes, travel documents and cash.

£500,000 ticket con on eBay

THOUSANDS of eBay users were conned out of 」500,000 in the online site's biggest fraud.

At least 3,000 people bought concert and sports event tickets from a seller trading as M-T Promotions. But the tickets never arrived.

And MT - who called himself Martin Thorne - emailed frustrated buyers saying his eBay account had been frozen because of a dispute with payment facility PayPal.

He insisted buyers had to recoup their cash from eBay. Victims reported weeks of "wrangling" with the auction site.

One buyer, Chris Trickett from Halifax, paid 」135 for two Take That tickets. He said: "I am annoyed that eBay gave this guy powerseller status. That is why he got away with scamming so many people.

"It's been a nightmare."

Last night eBay said cops had been called in to investigate the scam and promised to reimburse all those affected.

A spokesman said a "holding payment" system was being considered to prevent future scams.

SOS: Buscamos entradas

Thanks!

There’s a brilliant interview with the band in this week’s edition of Time Out. In it, the guys discuss what’s it’s like being on stage, who would play each of them in a film, what their children think of their music and much more.

There are four different covers available, each with a different band member – head to your newsagent now to check them out.

Take That: "We are not splitting"

TAKE That WILL make a new album after their tremendous Circus Live shows come to a climax.

Despite rumours of solo projects, the band are committed to continuing their all-conquering pop rule as a foursome.
And in the latest move, the lads' stunning new single Said it All is out this week.

Gary Barlow confirmed to me: "We will take a break after the tour then start writing again for the next album in autumn. It would be stupid to stop now wouldn't it? I'm feeling so vibed up. I haven't started writing yet, but we've got ideas."

The humongous stadium shows are the most elaborate the manband have put on.

Yet they're fi nding bigger is most definitely better. Gary, pictured above right on stage, continued: "This is the most relaxed tour we've ever done because of how the dates fall.

"We usually do something like 10 nights back to back. But it is more spaced out, which is nice."

As well as cooking up new songs, Gary is also considering adding to the Barlow household.

His wife Dawn, 39, gave birth to daughter Daisy in January.

And the 38-year-old revealed: "Dawn wants to have another baby.

"I'm happy with three but what the woman wants, the woman usually gets. The first two are a bit older now and take care of themselves, but Dawn is really enjoying Daisy."

Eight-year-old Daniel, and six-year-old Emily will pop along to see dad Gary in action on the live tour whenever they can.

As Gary explained: "We can't take them out of school as we get told off."

Entrevista en Escocia

TAKE THAT have hailed Scottish fans the best in the UK as they prepare for the first of three Hampden Stadium dates on their Circus tour extravaga.

And they admit they are expecting the Hampden roar to be the extra factor that guarantees the Scots dates will be remembered as the greatest Take That shows ever.

"Scottish people are the best crowd," Howard said.

"The further north you go the better and the louder. It is true. I am going down quite a few scales here but I was DJ-ing about six weeks ago in Glasgow and the number of fans there was incredible.

"They were all just stood there around the DJ box staring at me. I felt like a fish in a goldfish bowl. It was weird. But the Scots are a fantastic crowd."

Last-minute adjustments to the massive stage set are being made today, ahead of support slots by Gary Go and girl group The Saturdays.

"The show always comes together in the last few days," Howard admitted.

"The choreography gets sorted but the technical side of things, because they have to get all the stage equipment set up, always happens at the last minute. It's worrying but also exciting.

"If the show comes together too early, a week or two with everything polished, it takes away from the magic of the occasion because you become a little too relaxed.

"It's much better if you are still trying to get things right and it just comes together a day or two before the first of the shows on the tour. It can be exciting and nerve-racking."

Gary added: "We have been blown away with the amount of tickets we've sold this time out in Scotland.

"It's always a good concert for us when we come to the SECC but we thought we'd go bigger and put one show on. Here we are, playing three Hampden stadium dates and it is incredible.

"It's the support of fans like those here in Scotland that have helped us to put on such a big show this time around. Because the more tickets we sell the bigger the budget to go the whole hog and give fans even better value for money."

Despite the scale of the shows, Howard insists he was just as happy DJ-ing in clubs up and down the country and across Europe prior to Take That getting back together.

"I was offin my own little world," he recalled.

"To be honest, I was happy DJ-ing and I was crossing over as a known DJ around Europe. The name Howard Donald from Take That helped to open that door and helped me to get into that scene and I was enjoying myself.

"I never thought Take That would ever re-form. If ever I did have that thought, it was that we would get back together and be playing in little theatres to two or three thousand people.

"That was what was going through my mind if it was ever to have happened. And look at it. The first gigs we did in 2006 were stadiums. We and playing to 1.2 million people.

"I'm really surprised. The fact that we finished on top in 1996, finishing with a No 1 helped. We made good music that lived through radio all that time. I hate to blow my own trumpet but we were a great band, We did great live shows and made good music but I never expected what we have now."

The fastest-selling shows in UK pop music history will see the band performing a set list that includes pop classics, A Million Love Songs, The Greatest Day, Could it be Magic? and Shine.

Jason hopes he cab savour every moment spent in Scotland.

He said: "We're going to try to grasp it and love it and be fully involved with it and not let it go by too fast. I remember we toured at the start of the 1990s and did a big tour.We came to Scotland and it was the first time we were outside Manchester.

"We did mainly gay clubs around Glasgow and a lot of other clubs. It was brilliant. We've always had a fantastic reaction up there."

Gary added: "What really shocked us about the last lot of shows was when we walked out and saw everybody there, older fans through to young kids. It seems that no matter what age you are there is something you can find to like about Take That, which is brilliant for us."

Perhaps the only surprise is that Howard is completely unaware of the other big pop gig this week, that of Susan Boyle's Britain's Got Talent appearances in Glasgow and Edinburgh. He is one of the few people in the UK who has yet to hear SuBo sing.

"I haven't heard Susan Boyle because I didn't watch Britain's Got Talent," he said. "But I know she has curly hair through the newspapers. That's all."

And, like Susan, Howard is unlikely to get peace to see the sights even if he does have some down time during his Scottish leg of Take That's tour.

He said: "I hope there will be down time. When you are doing a tour and you get in late at night, you are so hyped up and you have the blood still rushing through your veins.

"I don't end up going to bed until two in the morning and I really like my sleep so I will be getting up at 11, eating my breakfast before 12 and getting out the door at one o'clock so most of my day is already gone.

"I have been asked to do after parties and I really want to do them but at the same time I have to get my rest as well"
So, how will the Take That shows compare to Howard and the lads' previous visits to Scotland?

Howard adds: "The choreography has calmed down a bit but there is still as much energy as the last few shows of the 1990s.

"It's still as colourful and, to be honest, I think this show now is probably the best we have ever done. I always say that with each tour, but I really believe this is the best show we have ever done. Definitely, in my eyes, whatever the people think... this is the one."

Croke Park - The Circus Show

He aquí mi crónica:

Take That, conoce esa "coreografía".

Take That en "Friday Night with Jonathan Ross"

Altamente spoiler: Friday Night with Jonathan Ross

TT gives young fan Greatest Day ever after a car crash

ake That fan Ben Watcham feared the worst when his mum crashed their car on the way to a concert - and he knew he would miss the show.

Amanda, 36, escaped with minor injuries while Ben, 10, was unhurt.

But she was devastated he would not see his idols sing hits such as Greatest Day after waiting six months for the concert.

Luckily, the Pc who attended the smash told band star Jason Orange - and they laid on VIP tickets for the next night's gig. Amanda, 36, said: "Ben's a big Take That fan and I got the tickets for his Christmas present, so I was devastated he missed the concert.

"But I was over the moon when the band fixed up tickets for us. It was so kind. We got VIP seats next to Jason's family and Ben loved it."

The schoolboy added: "Take That are my favourite band. It was a great show and we were glad we got to see them."

Nhs worker Amanda had chest, back and whiplash injuries and her car was a write-off in a multivehicle pile-up on Friday as the pair drove to the Sunderland concert.

Three of the other four vehicles involved were also going to the gig.

The officer who rushed to the scene, Tony Houghton, bumped into Jason on Saturday when he was called to move fans camped outside. Pc Houghton said: "I saw Gary Barlow saying goodbye to his wife, Jason Orange and the tour manager. When I told him about Ben and his mum he said, 'I'm not having that.' The band were really down to earth."

Jason and pals Gary, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen laid on three seats for Saturday's gig, including an extra one for Ben's dad Danny, 35.

Everyone else involved in the accident had managed to get to Friday night's show.

Take That's record label Polydor said: "Jason was glad to step in when he heard what had happened."

Take That come to town

TAKE That have certainly whet the apetite of fans after pictures from their new tour were released.
But, I'm afraid fans hoping that the prodigal fifth member of Take That, Robbie Williams, may make a return on this tour have been well and truly ruled out by the lads. Gary Barlow and Jason Orange both flatly denied that Robster would be returning.
Robbie, who quit the band in 1995, added fuel to the fire this March when, back in Manchester to watch his pal Jonathan Wilkes in We Will Rock You, he confirmed that he would like to rejoin the band in future. But his former bandmates ruled it out – for this tour at least.
“Unfortunately – and I mean unfortunately – there is no chance of it happening this time,” confirms Jason.
“We did speak about the prospect with him. It's OK for us because it would boost the show and it would be a brilliant moment, but it's not right for him. He's taken his own advice from his own people, but when he came back to us and said it's not right for him, we were in agreement. We know how the public perception is.
“If Robbie came on board with us, some people would be saying it's a lovely thing, but other people would be saying 'You know what, Robbie needs THEM now'. It would go against him, wouldn't it, really? But I hope it does happen in the future, and I mean that.”
The UK tour will see Take That playing for a total of a million people in what was the fastest-selling tour in UK history.
And what next for Take That? “Another record, probably, next year” says Gary. “We'll see how we feel after this. We're still ambitious. We don't feel like this is the end of the road for us by any means. We feel in many respects that this is the start.”

Entrevista a Jason

WITH just one week until the start of Take That: The Circus Live tour, 59 branded trucks left the band’s top-secret rehearsal location.
Carrying the staging, lights and set north, they headed towards Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.
Travelling in convoy, the trucks stopped traffic and amazed onlookers as they wound their way along the country roads towards the A1.
Take That kick off their monumental 20-date summer tour on June 5 on Wearside.
They will then travel to Coventry, Cardiff, Glasgow and Manchester, before ending with four sell-out shows at London’s Wembley Stadium in July.

Gary, Howard, Jason and Mark will play to more than one million people along the way – making this the biggest tour the band have ever undertaken.

As well as the opening night, Take That will perform a second show at the Stadium of Light the following evening and Jason Orange told the Chronicle he is thrilled.

“Everybody says in these interviews ‘wouldn’t you have rather started at Wembley or Manchester?’ he said.
“We’re not bothered about that. We’ve always had fantastic support and the further north you go in our country, the more electric the audience is.
“I don’t need to say this, but the North East fans have always been electric and some of our best supporters.

“We can’t wait to get there.”

Jason is no stranger to the region. His mum ran the Rosie Malone pub in South Shields for about five years.

“I was up there a few times. I loved it,” he said.

It is Take That’s first full-scale stadium tour, having played Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena four times since reforming in 2005.

Jason admitted all four members of the band are not taking their success for granted second-time round.
“It’s just life I suppose. Every time you think you’ve got a hold on life and how it works it always surprises you,” he reflected.

“In this instance it surprised us in the most wonderful way possible.

“On one of the last nights on our previous tour, the promoter said if we did another one it might be a good idea to do stadiums.

“It is easier for us as you work less and get to see more people.

“It is a change from arenas. We did maybe 50 arena dates last time.

“To do stadiums this time is a different environment and a different challenge.”

One of those challenges, he admitted, was topping their previous shows.
With 59 trucks heading to the Stadium of Light, that shouldn’t be a problem.
“In a stadium area we can have a bigger facility and a bigger production,” he explained.
“It is always a challenge improving on the last time.

“We’ve never been afraid to spend the money and I suppose the trick this time is doing the research and choosing the right people to be able to put us together a huge stadium show, but without it turning into something ridiculous.”
“All of us are really looking forward to getting back on the road again.
“We can think of no better way to thank everyone for their support and loyalty over the past few years.
“This will be the biggest tour we’ve ever done and we’ve been working especially hard over the last few months to make it the best and most exciting Take That tour yet.”

Entrevista a Gary y Howard

Take That frontman Gary Barlow today told Sunderland to get ready for the biggest party Wearside has ever seen.
As the boys put the finishing touches to their stunning show that kicks off at the Stadium of Light tonight he took time out to speak to the Echo.

Gary said: "It's going to be the greatest day of our lives.

"This is like a dream come true for us. This is a massive, massive tour and not just because of the amount of people, it's the sheer size of the tour as well.

"It's probably seven or eight times bigger than anything we've done before."

Gary and Howard spoke exclusively to the Echo as they prepared to join Mark and Jason on stage for final rehearsals today.

Howard added: "We're really excited. It's going to be a really big day for us and we can't wait to get it started."

After a week of rehearsals the boys are raring to get out there in front of their fans to strut their stuff on stage.

And despite battling pre-show nerves, they have vowed to impress their army of admirers with what they claim is their best show yet.

With plenty of surprises in store, which the boys are keeping well under wraps, flamboyant costumes and some pioneering magic, The Circus Live is definitely going to push the boundaries of gigging.

"This is such a great venue," Gary said. "I can't believe there hasn't been anything put on here before, I think Steve Bruce will be made up.
"We're quite nervous because this is the first night and we've put so much hard work into it.

"We will be doing things that have never been done on stage before and that have never even been done in concert before so we hope to lead on that."

Since landing in Sunderland last weekend, the boys' jam-packed schedule has not given them much time to discover Sunderland but they have had a little time to get to grips with Seaham, where they are staying.

"It's been beautiful weather and there's such a lovely coastline here," Howard said.

"One day, when we had a bit of spare time, me and Gary went for a stroll along the beach and it was absolutely stunning. You're so lucky to have that."

Take That are no strangers to the North East.

Since their first tour in 1991 when they turned up at Newcastle City Hall in one mini bus – a world away from the 59 buses that landed at the Stadium last week – there has only been one tour that they've started elsewhere.

"Starting in the North East is an omen for us now. The reason we keep coming back is the audiences are so great so let's keep that up," Gary said.

Blog for Good: Spoiler Free

¿y vosotras?
Esperamos vuestra opinión y nuevas reflexiones en comentarios ;)
Fido: Glory & Noely, dos takies sufridoras.

Take That 'Anger Villagers'

Take That have reportedly angered villagers due to their noisy rehearsals, as the chart-toppers warm-up for their UK stadium tour this month.

The 'Greatest Day' singers are holed-up at the RAF Cardington aircraft hangar in Bedfordshire, where they have been practicing their hits - but locals tells the Daily Star how unhappy they are at the noise levels.

"Take That might think they sound fantastic but just try telling that to my seven-month-old daughter." One man tells the newspaper. "We live in Cardington Village and it's just too loud."

"Some days we have a real problem getting her to sleep because of the noise from the hangar. They seem to be practising constantly."

"You have to remember they are getting ready to play stadium gigs so you can just imagine the volume at which they are belting their songs out."

"Some days it has sounded like we are having our very own Take That gig."

Take That begin their tour on Friday, although it's almost sold-out, there are still last-minute tickets available for their Sunderland show (June 5) at the Stadium of Light.
