Howard y su nuevo coche

HOWARD DONALD has treated himself to a £90k Audi R8 sports car to celebrate his 40th birthday.

The thought occurs to me that the TT would have been a much more appropriate model for the TAKE THAT star, 40 yesterday.
Howard was snapped with his sleek new 186mph German machine in Ringwood, Hants.
The Manc singer has had a few troubles with aching limbs during the band’s hugely successful comeback tour.
But his creaking joints have clearly healed as the towering TT star dropped into his new motor.
The registration plate ended BHD. Big Howard Donald?
Happy birthday big man.

Thank you!

Dear all, I World like to thank you all for showing up so numerous at my recent gigs accross Europe, It is great djing again I enjoy it a lot and I really apréciate that you all have stopped taking so many pictures during my set. At the end of the day we all go our to the clubs to dance and enjoy. Without you taking all these pictures all the time it makes me feel less like a goldfish in a goldfish bowl and allows me to concentrate more on my djing … and you lot to improve your latest dance moves.

Big hug to all of you out there, I hope to see you soon at my nest gigs!

Robbie Williams Set To Engage With Aliens

For special radio documentary...

Robbie Williams is to recall his close alien encounters – perhaps with Gary Barlow – on a special Radio 4 documentary next month.

Williams will co-host the programme, which was recorded in his adopted home of Los Angeles earlier this year, alongside Jon Ronson.

According to the BBC, Williams initially approached them about making the show, which also saw the pair travel to a UFO conference in Laughlin, Nevada.

Robbie Williams and Jon Ronson’s ‘Journey to the Other Side’ airs on BBC Radio 4 on May 6th.

Gary and Katherine

COULD it be magic when Gary Barlow joins Katherine Jenkins on her latest Viva La Diva tour?

Everything changes when the song and dance extravaganza, which sees our Katherine teaming up with prima ballerina Darcey Bussell, welcomes the Take That star back for good this week.

The glamorous pair will team up with the singer/songwriter for the international leg of the tour which will soon roll into the US before hitting Germany and Australia.

It’s not the first time that Gary and Katherine have worked together.

The pop songwriter contributed a track to the Neath mezzo-soprano’s 2007 album, Rejoice.

Katherine says the first time she met Gary he gave her a private performance of a song which left her holding back the tears.

She said: “He sang it to me in his house – in his house!

“I had to stop myself from texting all the Neath girls – massive Take That fans – that I was in Gary Barlow’s house having a cup of tea and a biscuit!

“He invested such emotion when he sang it to me. I knew I just had to record it and try to do it justice.”

As far as her own love life goes, she says her boyfriend, TV’s Gethin Jones, is making her very happy.

“Yes, it’s pretty serious, but honestly I don’t want to go into it very much.

“I like to keep my private life private and I don’t want people to think that I’m trying to exploit the relationship.

“We are together because we like each other and not because we want any publicity from it,” she said.

Interview: Mark Owen: Saver or spender?

Are you a saver or a spender?
At the moment I would say I am a spender. In the past I put a lot of money into getting a studio in my house and making my own record.

How much is in your wallet at the moment?
I don't have a wallet. In my pocket I have precisely pounds 11.30 and that's after buying a loaf of bread.

Do you know how much is in your bank account?
No, which is probably a good thing! I have a rough idea, but I haven't got what I used to.

How much did you earn in your first job?
My first job was a paper round. I was 13 and I earned pounds 3.50 a week including Sundays. Sunday papers were heavy and gave me backache.

What was your greatest financial triumph?
Hopefully it will be the album I am making at the moment.

What was your greatest financial disaster?
It was probably about a year ago when I tried to make a record at home. It was supposed to take between three and four months, but it ended up taking a year and it ran some high costs. It was not what I expected. It was a good experience though.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you spend it on?
I would buy my sister a house. She has just had a baby and so that is something I would like to get her. Then I would like to invest more money in the artists that I am managing at the moment. I would also decorate my front room, put a new fire in.

Do you give regularly to charities?
I give to Amnesty, Age Concern and Greenpeace. I think it is important to help others, it makes you see the privileges you have, especially for me who got a lot at an early age.

Is money the root of all evil?
No money can really help people. A lot of society has money worries; people with money have different worries.

Ídolos de ídolos

RONAN Keating has revealed that his former rivals Take That are his son Jack's favourite band. Ronan said: "It's weird. My eight-year-old son Jack just loves them. I was watching the Brits at home with my family and Jack went crazy when Take That came on.
"I don't think he realises that Daddy used to be in a band like Take That.
"Boyzone rather passed him by - he was just too young. I find the whole thing quite strange."

Interview: Mark Owen: Who's the pretty boy, then?

Two and a half years ago, as the world came to terms with the devastating reality that Take That had finally split, it seemed only a few aspects on boy-pop's diminished horizon could be truly relied upon. Robbie would always be the bad boy, Gary the gifted songwriter and Mark Owen. . . well, he's always been the one who sang and just looked pretty. After Take That's demise none of the other members had quite so much to prove as Owen, the doe-eyed heartthrob who received two-thirds of the band's fan mail. He was, if you like, the Baby Spice of the group. "I was always seen as the cute little lad who smiles and takes his shirt off," says the 25-year-old, voted Most Fanciable Male In The World by Smash Hits readers three times. "I wanted to show that there was a lot more to me. I was always being told I couldn't do it from so many channels, probably even from the band. So, I wanted to hold my head up high and be proud of what I achieved."

While Robbie and Gary followed their respective paths of louche behaviour (a la Liam Gallagher) and crafted pop (a la George Michael), Mark had no obvious role model. Yet, it was Mr Cute who had the loftier aspirations. He struck out on his own to make a rather more radical departure than either of his two mates. His debut album, Green Man, was recorded with the help of highly respected producer John Leckie (Radiohead, Kula Shaker) and is a rather convincing mix of polished guitar pop and new-age melodic wispiness. NME described it, rather sniffily, as, "the sort of indie rock album that will delight occasional devotees of Crowded House and those who think Radiohead sound heavy metal". The inky cognoscenti may mock, but it's still an impressive leap for someone who never wrote a song until he left the band and then penned 31 of them in five months - 12 made it onto the album. His first single, the Lennon-like "Child", shot into the charts at number two.

The 411 Music Top 5: Top Comeback Albums

22/04/2008

Join all of us from the Music Zone as we welcome back the Top 5! In honor of the column's return, we will be tackling the Top 5 greatest comeback albums of all time!

The Top Five Comeback Albums of All-Time

5. Beautiful World – by Take That - Ok, before you think "What the fuck is this guy smoking?" take a second to hear my argument. Take That were huge in the UK throughout the early nineties. When they split up in 1995 fans were devastated (I didn't give a shit). With the exception of Robbie Williams making a tit out of himself on a world-side scale, the rest of the band members fell into obscurity. In 2005 the four (minus Robbie) re-united to tour and in 2006 they released their first studio record in eleven years. Beautiful World was a huge success, going 8x Platinum in the UK alone. On top of this the record was a triumph musically - containing some damn catchy material. The success of Take That's reunion even inspired The Spice Girls to get back together – We can only thank god that that reunion didn't last.

4. Permanent Vacation – by Aerosmith
3. Brave New World – by Iron Maiden
2. Back in Black – by AC/DC
1. Some Girls – by The Rolling Stones

See Webbys post on MOO, wasn't Mark after all.

'Well the official line goes along these lines:

Text from me to Mark:
"Hello, there's a picture diong the rounds on the tinternet that looks incredibly like you doing the London Marathon and I have to say it's even got me stumped. Obviously I'm being asked if it's you - so ..... did you? x"

A Cue for Take That

WANTED: A snooker-loving Take That fan...with a large house.

A number of items from band member Howard Donald's fine art and antique collection are to be sold at auction.
They include a full-size Victorian mahogany snooker table and a nine-foot wide 19th century Chippendale-style bookcase. The singer, from Droylsden, sold his Hatherton Lodge mansion, near Nantwich, five years ago and the items, which have been in storage, are being sold by Nantwich auctioneer Peter Wilson on Thursday.
The snooker table is estimated to bring up to £3,500 and the bookcase £9,000.
The auctioneers say they are expecting considerable interest in Howard's collection which is among 700 lots to be sold on the day.
Auctioneer Robert Stones said: "The collection is for a Take That fan with a big house."
"You can imagine someone saying to their dinner guests, how would they fancy a game on Howard Donald's snooker table? I suppose it would be a great bit of one-upmanship."
Howard, 40 this month, was working as a DJ when he got back together with three of the lads, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Jason Orange.
He was taken ill last year with a life-threatening lung condition during a tour and was treated in hospital in Vienna.
His former mansion is also on the market after being restored by new owners. They have refurbished the house, landscaped the gardens and built a new tennis court. It is being sold by Savills for £4.5m.

I'm loving aliens instead

On December 18 2006, Robbie Williams played the last of 59 stadium shows in a row, announced he was going to spend Christmas at his home in Los Angeles, and then basically disappeared. He was hardly seen at all in 2007. He briefly checked into rehab. He spent quite a bit of time hiking and playing football (he owns a football pitch on Mulholland Drive). Then he stopped hiking and playing football. His record company, EMI, announced he had no plans to release an album in 2008. Today he unexpectedly calls me to ask if I want to go with him to the desert in Nevada to meet UFO abductees.

El artículo es interminable, por eso no lo copio entero, pero he aquí algunas "joyas":

I fly to Los Angeles. When Robbie comes to his door, I hardly recognise him. He has grown a very bushy beard. He sees me scrutinising it, slightly agape, and says, "OK, I'm piecing it together now. I've grown a beard and I'm going to Nevada to speak to people about UFOs. I think I should shave so I don't look so mad."

"Pop stars aren't allowed to have beards," he says. "Name me a pop star with a beard."

We go to his TV room. His girlfriend, the actor Ayda Field, is in there, watching a UFO DVD.

He said he liked a book I had written about conspiracy theorists and was thinking of spending a night in a haunted house. "Do you know any?" he asked.
